GEORGE E. MADDEN Three Springs, Pa. Instructor: An able instructor of the youth and also of the Bible, is Prof. George E. Madden, of Three Springs, Pa., who was born in Springfield Township, Huntingdon County, Pa. May 8, 1880, at Madden's school, in Springfield Township, he began his educational career, continuing at the local Normal Schools of the period. A son of David E. Madden, of Welsh-Scottish descent, and Susan J. Madden, of German- English descent. The Maddens are pioneer settlers, and familiar throughout this section. Mr. George E. Madden has taught school for thirty years, and is now Principal of the Three Springs public schools; has been for five years. Has also been engaged in farming. Assessor of Springfield Township for sixteen years; served on election board; teacher of Bible class for twenty-five years. Belongs to the United Brethren Chruch of Mount Carmel, Springfield Township. Is a Republican in politics. Has one brother living, H.J. Madden, of Meadow Gap, Huntingdon County, Pa., a farmer. One sister, Clara Mae, deceased, died at the age of two years. Mr. George Madden married Lou Emma Wible. Two children came to this union, both of whom are in the Three Springs High School, Carl Eugene and Anna Grace. He is fond of outdoor sports and a good part of his leisure time is given to the exciting and healthful sport of baseball. Mr. Madden is a progressive man and teaching is his specialty. Because of his own worth and deep interest in public affairs, he is a very influential man in the community.
