Assistant County Superintendent of Schools: Born at McAlevy's Fort (of Scotch-Irish descent). A son of J. S. Magill, a farmer; has 300 acres of ground where he resides and 200 acres at the old homestead. He married Adella White. He was a township auditor. His father was James Magill, a farmer. Both reside at McAlevy's Fort, Huntingdon County, Pa. Frank Magill laid the foundation for his educational career at McAlevy's Fort; he continued on, and graduated at Stone Valley High School at McAlevy's Fort, in 1910. He taught school in Jackson township; graduated at Juniata College. In 1917 and 1918 he taught High School in Beccaria Township, Clearfield Co., Pa. Is a World War veteran. Enlisted at Huntingdon, Pa.; went to Camp Lee, Va.; to Newport News, Va.; left on Transport (Mongolia), to Brest, France; to Calais; given British equipment, and sent to Doullon; in training; went to Somme front, two different times; were split up into battalions; with the New Zealand troops on the Somme front; part of troops were in action. From Doullon were shifted south to the American sector. Division was in reserve for the St. Mihiel drive. On the 26th of September, when the Meuse-Argonne drive started, the Division went into action. Up three different times, in action on Meuse-Argonne. Eightieth Division was known as shock troops; was gassed. Armistice signed when relieved while in action. Marched twelve days, into training area, where they spent the winter. In April they were sent into Le Maus area; to Brest for embarkation for the United States; discharged at Camp Lee, Va. After his discharge entered the educational field again at Waynesboro, Pa. He taught at Upper Darby from 1923 to 1924; again in Waynesboro from 1924 to 1925. He also attended State College. In August, 1925, he was appointed Assistant County Superintendent of Schools of Huntingdon County, Pa., and has since been occupying this postion. He has four brothers: Roy W., at home; James W., at Petersburg, Pa.; Clarence, Harrisburg, Pa., with Bell Telephone Co.; William S., Harrisburg, Pa. Frank Magill was married to Mary Hade, a daughter of J. Frank and Lillie Hade. One son, Robert H., eighteen months, born November 20, 1928.
