Restaurant and Confectionery: A veteran in the restaurant and confectionery business is John Magare Manbeck, of Petersburg, Pa. For thirty-five years he has conducted this business. A weaver by trade, employed at Gibboney's Woolen Mills, for nine years; these mills are in Mifflin County, Pa., along the State Highway. Mr. Manbeck was born August 6, 1868, in MIfflin County, Pa., and in Mifflin County received his education. Henry Harrison Manbeck, of Mifflin County, was his father. His grandfather was ninety-five years of age at death. Henry Harrison Manbeck died in 1874. Rebecca Goss, of Snyder County, Pa., was the mother; these are all deceased. Mr. Manbeck is a member of the Presbyterian Church; a Trustee; Treasurer of the Church for eighteen years, and a member of the Sunday School. At present he is on the election board. Did his bit in helping along the Liberty Loan drives and the Red Cross during the World War. Belongs to the I.O.O.F., No. 1162, Petersburg, Pa., and the Encampment at Huntingdon, Pa. Is a Republican in politics. Brothers are Elliott Manbeck, married to Ella Wurley, Burnham, Pa.; Henry, married to Sadie Smith, Belleville, Pa. One sister, Annie, married to Elmer Smith, Lewistown, Pa. Mr. Manbeck has been married three times, the first marriage to Zilla Cumming, deceased; second, to Jennie Moffet, deceased; one son, Horace F., at home. On March 22, 1929, he was married to Olive Crownover by the Rev. Mr. Stong, a Lutheran minister. Mr. Manbeck is an obliging and enterprising business man and delights in hunting and fishing.
