MILLER Shirleysburg, Pa. Merchant and Cigar Manufacturer: Born at Littlestown, Adams County, Pa. A son of David H. Miller, a merchant at Littlestown, Harrisburg and Shirleysburg, Pa., who died in 1918. He was married to Jennie (Wardman) Miller, who died in 1876. George W. Miller received his preliminary education at Shirleysburg, Pa., and later at the Shirleysburg Academy. From 1871 to 1877 he was located at Washington, D.C.; he was a salesman for thirty years, began at the age of seventeen years, of his own product and manufacture (cigars and stogies). Miller's cigars and stogies are known far and wide. He has been Auditor of Huntingdon County, a School Director and Councilman of Shirleysburg, Pa., and has served on the School Board. He is a Presbyterian, trustee and elder. A Republican. He belongs to the Masonic Fraternity, Cromwell Lodge, No. 572, Orbisonia, Pa. A Shriner, Jaffa Temple, Altoona, Pa.; Harrisburg Consistory,. He is President of the Orbisonia National Bank, and has been for ten years. He was married to Jennie Douglas, who died in 1886. Two children of this union: W. W. Miller, Superintendent terminal yards, E.B.T.R.R., Mount Union, Pa.; Curtin Miller, a foreman, Engine Department, Altoona, Pa. George W. Miller re-married to Sadie Harmon, who died in 1886; one son, L. C. Miller, Assistant Superintendent of Penna. R.R. yards, Tyrone, Pa. Mr. Miller again married, to Mary Smiley; she also is deceased; died in 1918. Two daughters of this union: Sarah, a school teacher at Mount Union, Pa.; Ruth was married to T. E. Neuman, proprietor service station, Mount Union, Pa.
