MILLER Mount Union, Pa. Blacksmith and Woodworker: Born in Carrol County, Maryland, December 25, 1893. A son of J.N. Miller and Elizabeth A. (Weishaar) Miller; American born; both reside at Mount Union, Pa. Howard P. Miller received his education at the schools of Carrol County, Maryland. He early in life learned the blacksmith and wagonmaking trade, and to-day is an expert in his line; for five years was a blacksmith in Maryland and for one year in Orbisonia, Pa., and in 1919 took over the blacksmith shop of Louis Norris; blacksmith of all kinds is carried on; also wood working for auto trucks and vehicles of all kinds. He represents the manufacturers of Stanley Auto Springs; also the Defiance Spark Plugs. He is a World War man. enlisted at Huntingdon, Pa.; thence to Camp Lee, Virginia; there for six weeks; to Norfolk, Virginia; embarked on (Madawaska); was fourteen days on the water; arrived at Brest, France; sent to a rest camp for one week; then to La Maus, a classification camp; assigned to Q.M.C. as a blacksmith in 83rd Division in Sarthe district; there for nine months, or duration of war. Left for Brest, France; sailed on battleship (Huntington); on water for ten days; discharged at Camp Meade. Howard MIller is a progressive citizen; has served six years on election board, First Ward, Mount Union. A Democrat. Belongs to the Knights of Columbus; the Simpson- Hunt Post, American Legion; also the St. Catharine's Catholic Church, of Mount Union, Pa. Has one sister, Mary A., Lewistown, Pa. He was married to Helen I. Daughenbaugh, of Rock Hill, Pa. They have two sons: Charles William, seven years; Joseph Howard, two years. One daughter, Grace Elizabeth, eight years. Mr. Miller delights in billiards, a game of skill.
