MILLER Mount Union, Pa. Principal Kistler Schools: Was born at Dry Run, Franklin Co., Pa., March 5, 1898, a son of Edward Miller, a carpenter, and of Fannie (Briggs) Miller, living at Cedar Crest, Mifflin Co., Pa. William G. Miller received his first insight into an education at Dry Run, Franklin Co., Pa., and also in the rural schools of Franklin Co., Pa. He also attended the sessions of Rock Hill Normal School for two summer terms. He afterwards attended Juniata College taking the Academic, or professional course. He taught school for twelve terms, four terms in rural schools and eight terms in grade schools. At present is Principal of the Kistler Schools. He was Scoutmaster for six years of No. 1 Scout Troop, Kistler, Mifflin Co., Pa. He was Registering Assessor of Wayne Township, Mifflin Co. Pa., and also a Republican Committeeman of Wayne Township. He is a Baptist; his wife also. He served in the World War, Enlisted at Lewistown, Pa., May 31, 1918; went to Columbus Barracks, for three weeks; sent to Camp Greenleaf, Oglethorpe, N.C.; there for two months; to Camp Hancock; was made a Sergeant on January 13, 1919, for duration of the war. Went in as private, came out as Sergeant with a total service of eleven months; discharged at Camp Hancock, Ga. He is Commander of Simpson-Hunt Post, No. 107, Mount Union, Pa. Belongs to State Teachers' Association. He has two sisters: Margaret, married to Harry Kidd, Mt. Union, Pa.; one brother died in infancy; one sister, Grace, a telegraph operator, of Allentown, Pa., Western Union Telegraph operator; one sister deceased, Ruth, fourteen years. William G. Miller was married to Violet Gross, a daughter of John and Daisy Gross. She is deceased. Mr. and Mrs. Miller have one son, Thomas, four years; one daughter, Dorothy, two years.
