MILLS Mount Union, Pa. Mechanical Engineer: Born at Columbus, Ohio, December 1, 1893. His grandfather, Warner Mills, was a captain in the Civil War, 32nd Vol. Inf. His son is the father of the subject of this sketch, Mahlon A. Mills, a retail shoe merchant at Columbus, Ohio; has been for forty years. He married Margaret Bell; both parents are living and reside at Columbus, Ohio. Norman A. Mills received his preliminary schooling at North High School, Columbus, Ohio; he graduated, class of 1911; he later attended Ohio State University; graduated in class of 1916, receiving the degree of Bachelor of Chemical Engineering. He was manager of the Mount Union Manufacturing Company for three years; with the Pennsylvania Highway Department for five years, as inspector of construction. At present is the mechanical engineer at the United States Refractories Company, at Mount Union, Pa. He served in the World War, enlisting at Columbus, Ohio; to Camp Sherman; was transferred to Chemical Warfare service; he held rank as Sergeant; there for duration of war; began as private, promoted to sergeant; sent to Camp Sherman, Ohio; served about eight months. He was Secretary of the Mount Union Borough Council. Belongs to the Lutheran Church; wife also. He is Assistant Superintendent of the Sunday School. Holds the office of Adjutant, American Legion, Simpson-Hunt Post, No. 107; is active in its behalf. Has four brothers: George W., Columbus, Ohio, a salesman; Robert, Akron, Ohio, Manager Singer Sewing Machine Company; Donald, Akron Ohio, an attorney; Carl, at home, attending Ohio State University. He has three sisters: Mrs. Mildred Garcelon, Memphis, Tenn.; Mrs. Dorothy Brunsman, Instructor Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio; Miss Virginia Mills, attending Ohio State University. Norman Mills was married to Katharine Isenberg, a daughter of the late J.G. and Elizabeth Isenberg. One daughter, Dorothy, aged eleven years, in fifth grade at school.
