Manager Murphy & Company: A young man fast forging to the front, and one who has proven his ability, is Morris Jay Morrison, previously residing at Lewistown, Pa. Morris, as he is better known, was born at Lewistown, Pa., on December 26, 1907, and at Lewistown he first made his acquaintance in the public schools. He graduated at the Lewistown High School and received his diploma. While attending school he strove in every way to improve his condition in life, accepting a position with the F.W. Woolworth Stores, a large corporation. Later on we find him with the R.B. Fleisher & Company, a business of the same nature as the F.W. Woolworth Stores. The G. C. Murphy and Company recognized his ability and appointed him manager of one of their 155 stores located at Mount Union, Pa. Under his management this store has taken on a decided improvement. Mr. Morrison has for six years been connected with this system of chain stores and to-day finds him familiar with all its ramifications. His father is Joshua Morrison, who was married to Florence Strong, of Scotch-Irish descent; both are living and reside at Lewistown, Pa. The father is retired. Morris Morrison belongs to the Baptist Church and Sunday School. Is a member of the J.O.U.A.M. of Mount Union. A Republican in politics. One brother died on Decoration Day, 1928. One sister, married to George Dillman, of Lewistown, Pa. Mr. Morrison has injected new life into the Mount Union store, and under his able management it will continue to grow. Recently he has been promoted to Baltimore, to manage one of the Murphy's emporiums.
