MOSSER Mount Union, Pa. Clerk: When duty calls one must obey, and it is the duty of Samuel S. Mosser to direct the operations of the Mount Union Fire Department, of which at the present time he is the Fire Chief, having served for a period of fifteen years. He has built up a complete organization with a system that is quick to respond and faithful in their performance. Samuel S. Mosser was born in Shirley Township, April 6, 1881; schooling at Mount Union grade schools. A son of Samuel S. Mosser, deceased, who died September 28, 1880. A millwright, of Claysburg, Pa., aged twenty- nine years, and of Mary (Sharer) Mosser, who died March 27, 1926, aged seventy-eight years. Samuel S. Mosser, the subject of this sketch, began early in life to carve a career. He was for nine years with the De Frehn Chair Factory at Mount Union, Pa. and also at Johnstown for the same firm. At present is with the Ewing Estate in a clerical capacity; for twenty-eight years with this concern. He belongs to the Methodist Church; on Official Board; Treasurer of Sunday School, for twenty-two years; on election board at various times. Belongs to the Masonic Fraternity, No. 688, Mount Union, Pa.; the I.O.O.F., No. 677, and the John C. Ross Encampment, No. 201, Mount Union, Pa. Member of State Fire Association; the Firemen's Relief Association; Assistant State Fire Marshall; a charter member of the Mount Union Fire Company, established in 1903; at present time Fire Chief. Has one sister, Mamie, deceased, 1913. He was married to Jesse B. Yaple, of Mount Union, Pa. Have three sons, Herbert S., at home, with General Refractories Co., manufacturers of silica brick; Charles, at home, with his father in store; S. Ralph, a junior in High School. Two daughters, Ruth, at home, engaged in office work; Katharine May, at school. Mr. Mosser is held in high esteem by his fellow men.
