A. Z. MYERS Mount Union, Pa. Minister Baptist Church: Was born May 16, 1866, in York County, Pa. The Myers originated in Germany. A son of John H. and Catharine Ann (Zook) Myers. The father, aged seventy-six, died in 1919. The mother, aged seventy-one years, died in 1913. The Zooks came to this country in 1742 and located at Donegal Township, Lancaster County; they were farmers. His early school training was acquired at Centre Square, Cumberland County. Rev. Myers attended the Peoples' National University; matriculated at Oskaloosa College, Iowa. He graduated at Crozier Theological Seminary, receiving the degree of D.D. Has been a minister for thirty-three years; spent nine years clerking at various places; at present is minister of the Baptist Church, Mount Union, Pa. During the World War was pastor at Ebensburg, Pa. The following are the appointments he has held: The first at Gethsemane and Richardsville, Jefferson County; Philipsburg, Pa.; Hazleton, Pa.; Shamokin, Pa., for seven years; Charleston and Cherry Flats, Tioga County, Pa.; Ebensburg, Cambria County, Pa; Holmesburg, Pa.; Philadelphia, Pa.; Chester, Pa., and coming to Mount Union, Pa., July 1, 1928. He was married to Sarah Detwiler, Manheim, Lancaster County, Pa., a daughter of Dr. Detwiler, one daughter, Alma, married to Verne Drew, Tioga Co., Pa.; one son, J. Vincent, married to Estelle Faing, Manager Auto Car Service Station, Camden, New Jersey. Rev. Myers has won the confidence of his members and of the community. Note: Amos Z.
