MYERS Shirleysburg, Pa. Fireman: Born at Shirleysburg, Pa., on June 27, 1895. A son of Harry Myers, who was an auctioneer, a butcher, miller and farmer, now deceased; his wife was Tennie Shue: she resides at Shirleysburg; she is a sister of John Shue, of Hill Valley, a well known farmer. William H. Myers has been a farmer and butcher, a line walker for three years; at present is a fireman for the Tuscarora Oil Co., Shirley township, Huntingdon Co., Pa. He was in Goldhousin, Germany, when his father died; in Army of Occupation. He is very much a World War veteran. Enlisted in Huntingdon, Pa.; sent to Columbus, Ohio, for one week; thence to Ringold, Texas; assigned to Co. B., 28th Inf., First Division, as private, first class; to Hoboken, N.J.; embarked on transport (Antillas); after fifteen days arrived at St. Nazaire, France; there one month in training; next to Travray, France; there was in trenches in action; moved to Luneville, Nayan defensive, April 25, 1918; Cantigny offensive, May 28th and 30th, 1918; Aisne Flame, offensive, July 18th to 25th, 1918, followed by St. Mihiel, September 12, 13, 1918; to Meuse Argonne, Oct. 1st to 12th, 1918; to Army of Occupation on the Rhine, Germany. He arrived in the United States August 19, 1919, on transport (Mani); enlisted May 14, 1917. He was wounded in action by machine gun bullet, May 28, 1918, at Cantigny, France; gun shot wound in head with shrapnel, July 19, 1918. He was first in state of Pennsylvania to be wounded three times; also gassed. He was cited for gallantry in action and especially meritorious services, by the Division Commander. He belongs to the Methodist Episcopal church; wife also, of Shirleysburg, Pa. A Republican. His brothers are as follows: Charles B., Bower, Arthur, Elmer, Robert. Sisters are: Annie, Esther, Emma and Flora. La Rue and Lillian are twins. Nellie is deceased. William H. Myers was married to Frances Snare, a daughter of Joseph and Anna Snare; the mother is deceased; the father living. Mr. and Mrs. Myers have one son, William Herman, Jr., five years of age. One son, Roy, died in infancy.
