H. NEFF Huntingdon, Pa. Instructor: Born at Howard, Centre County, Pa., March 25, 1875. A son of William N. Neff, residing at Niagara Falls, New York, a night overseer of a department store; he married Anna M. Funk, who is now deceased. H. H. Neff was for eight years a United States Commissioner at Zortman, Montana, and also a postmaster at the same place; he was thirteen years in Montana. He was with the New York Central Railroad, in the supply department for two years. He followed the meat business for two years at Huntingdon, Pa. He has been for the last two and a half years an instructor in the Welfare Department, State Reformatory, at Huntingdon, Pa. He was a clerk on the election board at Mahaffey, Clearfield Co., Pa. He was president of the Council at Mahaffey. He is a Spanish-American War Veteran; previously was in the Pennsylvania National Guards; he served in Company B., 5th Penna Vol. Inf., Taylor, Colonel Burchfield, commanding. The company was formed at Bellefonte; sent to Mt. Gretna for mobilization; thence to Chickamauga, Georgia; to Lexington, Kentucky; to Bellefonte, Pa., for discharge. He is Adjutant and charter member of the John C. Dunkle Spanish-American War Veterans' Association, No. 122, Huntingdon, Pa. A Republican. He has one brother, Merrill, Niagara Falls, New York, a foreman; one brother deceased, Richard, died at the age of two years. H. H. Neff was married to Eula May Hepburn. They have four daughters: Thelma, a graduate of the Mahaffey High School; also a graduate nurse of the General Hospital, Philadelphia, married to William Hall, Wilkinsburg, Pa.; Margaret, Pittsburgh, Pa.; Geraldine, married to Carl Anderson, Jamestown, New York; Lois, a Freshman, Huntingdon High School. One son, William, a graduate of the Huntingdon High School, now attends Lafayette College, Easton, Pa. Note: Harry H. (54; occupation listed as a painter of furniture), Eula M. (45) and Lois E. (15) Neff are listed in the 1930 Walker Township, Huntingdon county census. The 1880 Howard Township, Centre County census lists William (26), Annie M. (23), Harrie H. (5), Richard C. (3), and Thomas M. (8/12) Neff.
