NEUSBAUM Mount Union, Pa. Meats and Provisions: The name of Neusbaum denotes German ancestry. His great-grandfather settled at Chambersburg, Franklin Co., Pa. He is a son of Daniel J. Neusbaum and was born at Fannettsburg, Franklin Co., Pa., December 16, 1881. Daniel J. Neusbaum married Mary Galahar; both are deceased. Charles Neusbaum attended the public schools of Fannettsburg, Franklin Co., after which he went to Braddock, Pa., learned the butchering business and for a period of time was with a steel mill at Monessen, Pa. He returned to Braddock and engaged in the butchering business. In 1904 he came to Mount Union, Pa.; was engaged with W. W. Peterson in the same business. A partnership of Carter and Neusbaum was entered into, which lasted for several years. In 1907 Mr. Neusbaum took over the business and to-day occupies the leading position in this business, and through years of experience, has a trade established that covers a large territory. His activities are varied. For six years was Borough Auditor; after the death of the late Frank Moore, who was Water Commissioner of Mount Union, he was appointed in his stead. He is interested in church activities; has been a trustee for fifteen years and an attendant of the Sunday School. During the World War he participated in all drives, Liberty Loan, Salvation Army and Red Cross. He belongs to the F. and A.M., No. 688, Mount Union, Pa.; the Harrisburg Consistory; a Shriner, Jaffa Temple, Altoona, Pa. He has two brothers: James G., Coachella, Calif.; John F., Los Angeles, Calif. He was married to Theresa Covert; one son, Frank S., an instructor at Pennsylvania State College; he was married to Louetta Shryrock; they have on daughter, Nancy Lou, Maud Beverly Covert, nine years. Charles Neusbaum is a representative business man who helps in every way to advance the community's interests.
