NORRIS Huntingdon, Pa. Assistant Superintendent: Born at McVeytown, Pa., Sept. 8, 1878. A son of Luden Norris, a harness maker for forty years, located at Huntingdon, Pa. He was a Civil War veteran, Company C, 53d. Vol. Pa. Inf. Died in 1920 at the age of seventy-six. He married Anna Yocum, who died in 1926, at the age of seventy-six. Chalmers J. Norris attended the grade schools in Huntingdon, Pa.; continued on, and graduated from the Huntingdon High School, class of 1889. Was for a while an assistant to his father in the harness business; was for nineteen years Adams Express agent at Huntingdon, Pa.; for two years was a foreman for the Huntingdon Specialty Co., more familiarly known as the Silk Mill, and for eight years was a night superintendent. He was promoted to Assistant Superintendent, the position he now holds. He is a member of the Fifteenth Street Methodist church; his wife also; and orchestra leader in the Sunday School. He belongs to the Masonic Fraternity, Mount Moriah, No. 300, Huntingdon, Pa.; Royal Arch Chapter, Knights of Pythias; Sons of Veterans and the Kiwanis Club. He has three brothers: Harry, Afton, Va.; George, Philadelphia, Pa., an electrician, with the Philadelphia Electric Co.; Isaac, Altoona, Pa., with Penna. R.R.; James, deceased. Sisters are: Samantha, Harrisburg, Pa.; Elsie and Mary are deceased. Chalmers J. Norris was married to Fannie Baker. Two adult sons in the ministry: Fred, a minister of the Methodist Church, Newton Hamilton, Mifflin County, Pa.; he married Miss Pearl States; Gail, a minister of the M. E. church at Lynbrook, Long Island, N.Y.; Ocar, Assistant Foreman, Huntingdon Specialty Co., Huntingdon, Pa.; one daughter, Aileen, eleven years; one son, Kline, deceased, five years of age.
