M. NORRIS Aitch, Huntingdon County, Pa. Postmaster: Born in Penn Township, Huntingdon County, Pa., November 30, 1869. His great-grandfather was among the original settlers of this community. The father of J. M. Norris was Thomas Norris, who died in December, 1898. He was a farmer and dealer in horses and livestock. He married Nancy Snyder, of Mooresville, Huntingdon County, Pa., who died in 1888. For twenty-two years J. M Norris was a miller; is a blacksmith and carpenter; succeeded Samuel Beaver, the present Sheriff of Huntingdon County, Pa., as postmaster at Aitch, Pa., four years ago. Has been supervisor and auditor, and served on election board. Was a miller during World War. Belongs to the Knights of Pythias, Monroe, Louisiana. Is Independent in politics. Living brothers are: Louis S., Mount Union, Pa., retired; Joseph, Hesston, Pa.; D. Reuben, Oklahoma City, real estate. Deceased brothers are: Luden, Huntingdon, Pa.; D. J., of La Grange, Ind., and S. A., of Mt. Union, Pa. J. M. Norris was married to Martha Grubb, of Penn Township, a daughter of Joseph and Rebecca Grubb. Have three sons: Joseph G., married to Ethel Isett, Penn township, in mail service, and owns a farm; M. Louis, married to Edith Bowman, Huntingdon, Pa., a plumber, Penna. Reformatory, Huntingdon, Pa.; G. Luden, at home. One daughter, Martha, married to J. R. Hess, of Marklesburg, Pa, employed with Penna. R.R. at Altoona, Pa. Mr. Norris has traveled much and is well informed. Note: the 1870 Penn Township, Huntingdon County census lists Thomas (55), Nancy (45), Eliza (22), Saml (21), Rachel (19), Susanah (18), Mary (16), Lewis (15) Daniel (13), Joseph (11) Margret (5) and John (1) Norris. The 1910 Penn Township, Huntingdon County census lists John Martin (40), Martha Jane (39), Joseph Gaubb (10), Martin Lewis (9) and Martha Alberta (3) Norris.
