OTT Orbisonia, Pa. Merchant: Hugh M. Ott was born at Hopewell, Bedford County, Pa., January 9, 1873; was six years of age when his father died. At the grade schools of Orbisonia he began his schooling, and was an apt pupil. A son of William Ott, who died at the age of forty-four, of typhoid fever. His mother was Ellen (Reiley) Ott, who died at the age of seventy-two. Hugh Ott served five years at Lewistown, in a clerical capacity, and was with the Shapiro store at Orbisonia for a period of twenty-five years. In June, 1927, he branched out in business for himself, carrying a line of clothing, shoes, ladies' and gents' furnishings. He is a Presbyterian; was a trustee; wife also of same church, when living. He is a Democrat. Has two brothers: Seward, married to Lillie Booher, Orbisonia, Pa.; Wesley, married to Elizabeth Duffy, Orbisonia, Pa. Two sisters: Charlotte, married to William Chilcoat; Mary, a widow, Rockhill, Huntingdon County, Pa. Hugh M. Ott was married to Cora Coons, who died in February 1924. She was the daughter of R.J. and Mollie Coons. R. J. Coons was the editor and publisher of the Orbisonia Dispatch. The children of Mr. Ott are: Robert, married to Violet Melber, Pittsburgh, Pa.; John, Huntingdon, Pa.; Stetson, six years, at school; Mary, a Junior in High School, and Catharine, at school. Mr. Ott has been very successful, his place of business is prominently located, and he enjoys the confidence and patronage of people generally, who like him.
