F. PARKER Mapleton Depot, Pa. Merchant: The subject of this sketch, A. F. Parker, is the son of A. M. Parker, who was born in Mifflin County, Pa., and died at the age of seventy years. For many years he was a merchant at Mapleton Depot. He married Emma Himes; she was the daughter of William Himes; they were farmers, of Lancaster county. She is deceased; died at he age of fifty-eight years. A. F. Parker received his education at the Mapleton schools, and was for nine years employed with the Penna. R.R. shops at Altoona, Pa., as a blacksmith. Upon the death of his father he succeeded him in the mercantile business at Mapleton Depot. For twenty-two years he has conducted this business, which is general merchandise, consisting of dry goods, shoes, notions, furnishings, groceries, pastry, etc. His thorough knowledge of this business enables him to give good service. He is a member of the Methodist church; his wife also. His fraternity consists of membership in the I.O.O.F.., Juniata, No. 497. As to politics, so is Mapleton, which is rockbound in its Republicanism; he naturally bears the Republican label. His brothers are: L. L. Parker, of Mapleton Depot; he is a Justice of the Peace; one brother, William, is deceased; he died at the age of fifty-eight years. His sisters are: Mrs. J. G. Gillam, Pasadena, Calif.; one sister is deceased, Mrs. C. R. Moore, who died at the age of forty-four years. A. F. Parker was married to Prudence Miller, daughter of Jacob and Lydia Miller, of Mifflin Co., Pa. Mr. Parker is of genial and kindly manner, and enjoys the kind regard of many friends, and he has earned the success that has crowned his labors. His place of business is well located, neatly arranged and with the assistance of his wife conducts a leading mercantile establishment.
