Money Order Clerk: One who has made postal affairs a complete study, and who has had nineteen years experience in every phase that has to do with the expediting of mail, and money orders, indexing, classifying, etc. Russell Peterson, or Dean, as he is better known, began his career as a postal clerk in March, 1910, and to-day occupies the position of money order clerk. Dean Peterson was born at Altoona, Pa., March 31, 1893. At the Altoona (Juniata) schools, he began his educational career, beginning in the grade schools, and at the Altoona High School. A son of Robert Elmer Peterson. His mother was killed outright in an automobile accident in 1922. Her maiden name was Dora Appleby. Russell Dean Peterson belongs to the Presbyterian Church Huntingdon, Pa. A solid Republican, and is a pupil in the Sunday School. Belongs to Knights of Pythias, No. 295, Three brothers: Merrill, with Penna. R.R., Pittsburgh, Pa.; Fred, a carrier in the Postal Service, Mount Union, Pa.; and Max, an auto mechanic, with Wilson and Garner, Mount Union, Pa. Three sisters: Verna, married to Ralph Crouse; Lila and Fae, office work with U.S. Refractories Company, Mount Union, Pa. Dean Peterson was married to Violet Reck. Three children: R. D. Peterson, Jr., aged four; Walter Leon Peterson, aged two; Genevieve, aged eleven, at school. Dean Peterson has been a faithful and trusted employee of Uncle Sam.
