PHEASANT Cassville, Huntingdon County, Pa. Commercial Drayman: Born in Smith Valley, February 18, 1899, on a farm. A son of Harry Pheasant, living at Cassville. He has been a farmer all his life. He married Ella Lynn, who died in 1905, at the age of twenty-four years. Ellis A. Pheasant remained on the farm until the age of fourteen years. He has been employed at various places. Was at powder plant at Mount Union, Pa.; was a hydraulic pressman with Penna. R.R. at Altoona, Pa.; in blacksmith shop for two years; at present is a drayman; has had a route from Cassville to Huntingdon for six years. He attended the Garfield school in Smith Valley; also the Locust Grove grade schools. He has served as inspector on the election board at Cassville. He is a World War veteran; enlisted at Harrisburg, Pa.; was sent to Columbus Barracks, Ohio, to be examined; accepted, and assigned to Company A, 21st Engineers; sent to Camp Grant, Rockford, Ill.; there for four months; to Camp Merritt, New Jersey; to Hoboken, New Jersey, for embarkation on transport (President Grant); was eighteen days on water; arrived at Brest, France; went to rest camp at Duquesne; thence to St. Mihiel, front; in action there for two months, followed by the Argonne and Meuse sectors; they built railroads and were the advance guard. Went to Brest, France; left on (President Grant); arrived at Camp Devens, Mass.; to Camp Dix, New Jersey; was discharged. He is a member of I.O.O.F., Cassville, Pa.; Encampment of Odd Fellows, Huntingdon, Pa. A Republican. One brother, Otis, State College, Pa. Two brothers deceased, Chester and Chalmers, who died in infancy; a half-sister, Flora, Cassville, Pa. Ellis A. Pheasant was married to Lola A. David, of Trough Creek, a daughter of J. G. and Emma David. Mr. and Mrs. Pheasant have one son, Ellis Clair, one and a half years old.
