A. PHEASANT Union Township, Huntingdon County, Pa. Farmer: P. A. Pheasant was born in Union Township, Huntingdon County, Pa., March 21, 1864. At Sherman school, in Smith Valley, he received a preliminary education; attended Summer school in Union Township. A son of Samuel P. Pheasant, who died in 1923, aged eighty-seven years, and of Mary A. (Curfman) Pheasant, who died in 1917, aged seventy-five years, of Scotch-Irish parentage. P. A. Pheasant is a practical farmer, has a farm of ninety acres, and specializes on potatoes, which this valley is noted for. Has been a farmer all his life, in Union Township. Born and raised on farm. Has been Supervisor, School Director and Assessor. The family are Methodists, members of the Calvin Church. He is President of the Board of Trustees. Belongs to the Grange, No.1210, Calvin, Huntingdon County, Pa. A Republican in politics. Has one brother, Clarence, at home. Two sisters, Annie E. married to Horace Wright, Smith Valley; Lillie, married to Jesse Apgar, Alexandria, Pa. P. A. Pheasant was married to Anna H. Smith, daughter of David and Jane Smith, of Smith Valley. The valley is named after the Smiths of her ancestry. Four daughters: Odessa, married to J. Coy Coder, Huntingdon, Pa.; Elsie, married to John Mansberger, Union Township, a farmer; Cora, married to John Anderson, Huntingdon, Pa., a machinist at Altoona, Pa.; Esther, married to John Mierley, Huntingdon, Pa, a fireman on the Middle Division, Penna. R.R. Mr. Pheasant is one of the foremost farmers of this section and highly esteemed. Note: Philip A. (55) and Anna H. (60) Pheasant and Pheasant L.
