OMER B. POULSON Huntingdon, Pa. Pastor Fifteenth Street Methodist Episcopal Church: A mighty force for law and order is the minister of any community. They wield an influence that has a tendency to elevate the home and its surroundings, and the subject of this sketch, Rev. Omer Bruce Poulson, has made his imprint upon the minds of many. He was born at Somerton, Belmont County, Ohio, and his initiatory education was obtained in the town of his birth. A son of J.W. and Mary M. (Davis) Poulson. Rev. J. W. Poulson was a local minister of the Methodist faith. He is deceased, at the age of eighty-four years; died March 3, 1930. His wife died in 1925. The Poulsons and Davis factions were Scotch-Irish, an ancestry to be proud of. The Reverend Omer B. Poulson in order to advance his educational career, attended the Somerton High School. The Scio Prep School, 1902; Cambria Business College 1905. Taught school in Belmont County, Ohio, for two years. Commenced his ministerial career at Shawville, Clearfield County, Pa., in 1909; Wallaceton, Clearfield County, Pa., until 1915; was Conference Evangelist to 1925; assigned to Fifteenth Street Methodist Episcopal Church, Huntingdon, Pa., in 1925, and has since been in charge. The Reverend in his earlier years was engaged in the mercantile business at Everett, Pa.; was a bookkeeper at Hopewell. He is interested in fraternity work; is Chaplain of I.O.O.F., No. 17. Belongs to P.O.S. of A., Camp 321, Huntingdon, Pa.; Secretary of Rotary; member of County Ministerial Association. He was married to Emily E. Britten, of Nanticoke, Pa. Following are the children of this union: Omer B., Jr., Pottstown, Pa.; H.C., Dorothy M., Ruth, Bethel M., Sarah L., eight years; Miriam E., six years; Emily Jean, three years. The brothers and sisters of Rev. Poulson are Josephine P. Clark, of Clarence, Mo.; Rev. C.R. Poulson, Trinway, Ohio; Emma M. Skiff, Boston, Mass.; William A. Poulson, Canton, Ohio; Jennie Carpenter, McDonald, Pa.; Herman C. Poulson, Forsythe, Montana. Rev. Poulson is interested in the Boy Scout movement and Play Ground Association, and assisted in forming the Junior P.O.S. of A. He is a busy man, and has increased the church membership. In demand at public gatherings, a forceful speaker, pleasant and cheerful.
