Price's Service Station: Jesse Price was born and raised on a farm at Newton Hamilton, Mifflin County, Pa., September 4, 1891. He stayed on the farm until the age of nineteen years. A son of John Price, who was a farmer practically all his life; farmed the Lane farm near Newton Hamilton, Mifflin County, after which he farmed in Hare's Valley; he also owned a farm three miles out of Mill Creek, Pa.; he is deceased; died in 1915, at the age of sixty-three years; he married Mary Walls; she formerly resided at Ryde, Mifflin Co., Pa.; she is deceased; died in 1920, at the age of fifty-eight years. Jesse Price attended the Newton Hamilton, Mill Creek and the Lone Star school out of Mapleton. For two years was with the Pennsylvania Glass Sand Corporation at Mapleton, Pa., after which he became a locomotive fireman with the Penna. R.R., running out of Altoona and Huntingdon. He started with the company in 1913, and was employed as fireman until July 23, 1919, when he sustained an accident, which caused him to relinquish that position, to accept a position as a railroad watchman at Mapleton Depot, coming to Mapleton in 1921, after being disabled for a period of one year, which position he now holds. His brothers are: William, of Huntingdon, Pa., a railroad fireman; John is a half-brother; he is a farmer in Hare's Valley. Sisters are: Alice, married to Samuel Anderson, a carpenter, of Mapleton Depot, with the Pennsylvania Glass Sand Corporation; Elizabeth is married to Blair Shore, of the Daily News, Huntingdon, Pa. Mr. Price is a member of the I.O.O.F., Mapleton, Pa., and was formerly a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers. A Republican in politics. Jesse Price married Etta Condron, a daughter of Silas Condron, of Mill Creek, Pa. They were married at Peoria, Ill; they have one son, George, born in May, 1923; he is seven years of age; one daughter, Anna, born January 1, 1925. Mr. Price has erected a service station at the west end of Mill Creek, and opened it to the public about April 1st, 1930. It is his desire to give good, dependable and prompt service, at prices that are reasonable, carrying in stock tourists' and local supplies, and using two pumps for supplying gasoline to patrons.
