RODGERS Marklesburg, Pa. Lunch and Confectionery: Born in Penn Township, Huntingdon Co., Pa.; began his school career at Bower's School, in Penn Township; a son of William Rodgers, a Civil War veteran, 19th Penna. Vol. Cavalry Regt.; was in Sherman's Army; died in 1915, aged sixty-five years, and of Mary (Fleck) Rodgers, now living at Marklesburg, Huntingdon County, Pa. Jesse C. Rodgers was formerly employed at Erie, Pa., as a carpenter and plaster, for a period of one and a half years; had a store in Penn Township; followed railroad and stone quarry work; also a woodsman. In 1926 established and built a store at Marklesburg, Pa., also serving light lunches and sale of ice cream, etc. Both he and his wife belong to the Baptist Church of Erie, Pa. Was on election board of Penn Township. A Republican. Has one brother, William H., Penn Township. Charles O. was killed while driving an automobile on a public highway; telephone pole crushed top of auto; lived nineteen days; died in 1926. Jesse C. Rodgers was married to Maggie Shultz, a daughter of W. H. and Maggie Shultz, of Entriken, Pa. Have two sons: Lee, married to Lily Powell, Aitch P.O., Huntingdon Co., Pa.; Don, nine years of age, at school. One daughter, Ruth, aged twelve years, also at school. Mr. Rodgers has by strict attention to business built up a large trade, which increases from year to year.
