C. ROWE Orbisonia, Pa. Meats and Provisions: C. C. Rowe was born at Orbisonia, Pa., February 24, 1873, a son of John James Rowe, who was a butcher for fifty years, and who died in 1923, at the age of seventy years. He married Sarah Carothers, a daughter of Abraham Carothers, who built the Eagle Hotel at Orbisonia. She is deceased, having died in 1914, at the age of seventy years. C. C. Rowe, the son, attended the grade schools of Orbisonia, Pa. Was for thirteen years a machinist with the Westinghouse Company, Pittsburgh, Pa., and for nine years a machinist at Johnstown, Pa. At the age of fifteen years he began to learn the butcher trade under the care of a master butcher, his father. He succeeded his father in the butcher business in 1914. During the World War he was engaged in the meat and provision business. In politics is a Republican. He married Mamie Briggs, a daughter of Wilson and Elizabeth Briggs. Her father was long a popular and obliging passenger conductor of the E.B.T.R.R. Company, and was highly esteemed by a host of friends and acquaintances; he was killed in an accident on the East Broad Top Railroad thirty years ago. The following are the sons and daughters: Martina, married to Harvey Wood, Evanstown, Ill.; Bessie, Evanstown, Ill.; John, in Canada; Audrey, at home; Joe, at home; Dick and Ruby are twins attending school. Note: Charlie C. Rowe, 56, Mayme F. Rowe, 51, John R. Rowe, 30, Andrey M. Rowe, 20, Ruby M. Rowe, 14, Richard W. Rowe, 14, and Joseph C. Rowe, 12, appear in the 1930 Oribsonia, Huntingdon County census.
