RUMMEL Shirley Township, Huntingdon Co., Pa. Assistant Engineer: John B. Rummel was born in Shirley Township, November 12, 1870. A son of Daniel Rummel, a miller for fifty-eight years. His father, George Swayne, bought a property for each of his children. Daniel Rummel died January 1, 1918, at the age of seventy- three years. He married Elizabeth (Swayne) Rummel; she died in 1908, at the age of sixty-five years. John B. Rummel was for many years with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, as a machinist helper, and also as a stationary engineer. When the Ohio Oil Company located a pumping station in Shirley Township, Huntingdon County, Pa., he was assigned the position of Assistant Engineer, and has for twenty-one years occupied this position. He belongs to the Church of the Brethren, Philadelphia, Pa.; his wife to the United Brethren. he has one brother, Jacob A., Philadelphia, Pa., a street car conductor; one brother deceased; Daniel Herbert, died at the age of forty-five years. His sisters are: Kate, a widow, was married to John H. Miller, Sweedsboro, N.J.; Laura, married to Robert Thompson, Philadelphia, Pa.; Susie, married to George Cameron, Philadelphia, Pa., a widow; Alice, a widow, Philadelphia, Pa., and Lena, Philadelphia, Pa. He was married to Sadie Everett, a daughter of Moses and Maggie Everett, who are both deceased. Three children of this union. Two sons, Clarence B., married to Martha Kyper, Lewistown, Pa.; Edward, a draftsman for Hertzler and Zook, Belleville, Pa., married to Margaret McCracken; they reside at Lewistown, Pa.; one daughter, Edith M., is a graduate nurse of the Allegheny General Hospital. Started at the Roaring Springs Hospital; she resides at Pittsburgh, Pa. Mr. Rummel's first wife is deceased; he remarried to Anna Veltman (which was her maiden name), of Philadelphia, Pa.; to a previous marriage one child, Helen McCarty. Mr. and Mrs. Rummel have three sons: William, at home; Charles, in Mount Union High School; John, twelve years of age, attending school.
