Runk & Co., 1897, page 322. __________________________________________________________________ WILLIAM DEFREHN, Mount Union, Huntingdon county, Pa., was born April 10, 1834, in Orwigsburg, Pa., son of Daniel and Susan (Noeaker) Defrehn. Daniel Defrehn was a carpenter, born in Bucks county. He died in 1855. Mrs. Defrehn was born in Schuylkill county in 1795; she died in 1876. Their children are: John, deceased; Sarah; Susannah, deceased; Joseph; Mary; Daniel; Catharine; Caroline; Louisa; William; and Charles. William Defrehn was educated in the public schools of Pottsville; was formerly clerk in a store, and is now superintendent of a chair manufacturing establishment that turns out on an average twenty dozen chairs a day. William Defrehn was married in 1855 to Elizabeth, daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth Hillegas, who are both deceased. Their children are: Robert A.; William A.; Edward D.; Charles H.; Emma Laura, deceased; Frank; Effie, deceased; Augustus; Walter, deceased; and George C. Mr. Defrehn is a Republican. He belongs to Harmony Lodge, No. 86, I.O.O.F., Tamaqua, Schuylkill county, Pa., and is a member of the Methodist Episcopal church.
