R. RUPERT Huntingdon, Pa. Merchant: Born in Henderson Township, Huntingdon County, Pa., February 28, 1871, a son of John Rupert, who died in 1913, at the age of sixty- eight years, caused by a horse running away. He followed farming a good part of his life. He was married to Lyda Goss, who died in 1878, at the age of twenty-eight years. C. R. Rupert was seven years of age when his mother died; he was born on a farm. His early schooling was at Sugar Grove school, in Henderson Township, Huntingdon Co., Pa. He was with O. M. Brumbaugh, at 716 Washington Street, a merchant, for five years; was a farmer until 1921, and in 1923 established himself in the mercantile business. He built a modern store room at 1020 Washington Street; he owned a farm of two hundred and fifty acres. He belongs to the Church of the Brethren at Huntingdon, Pa.; was a deacon for thirty years; wife also a member of the Church of the Brethren; also daughter; all attend Sunday School. He served on the election board in Henderson Township. During the World War was in business at 716 Washington Street. He is a Democrat. Has one brother, Howard, of Henderson Township; on old homestead; one sister, Mrs. Laura Fegley, Tyrone, Pa. He is a carpenter. He built the dam for the reservoir at Huntingdon, Pa. He has two half-sisters: Mary Clemens, Tyrone, Pa., and Nellie Shingler, Lewistown, Pa.; one full sister, Lettie Hetrick. C. R. Rupert was married to Mary H. Pierce, a daughter of Absalom and Martha Pierce; both are deceased. They were farmers. Mr. and Mrs. Rupert have one daughter, Dorothy, fourteen years of age, a Freshman in the Huntingdon High School; Viola died in infancy. One son, Ray, was twenty-two years of age when he was killed in an auto accident, in 1917, at Bigler, Clearfield County, Pa. Note: Charles Rupert, 29, Mary H. Rupert, 28, Ray A Rupert, 4, George W.
