RUSSELL Hopewell Township, Huntingdon Co., Pa. Merchant and Service Station: Born at Shy Beaver, September 18, 1874. A son of John H. Russel, a Civil War veteran, of Company D, Vol. Inf.; was a farmer for most of his life, and died at the age of sixty-two years, and of Delilah (Bowser) Russell, who died at the age of sixty- five years. John B. Russell began his early schooling at the Valley School, Shy Beaver, Huntingdon County, Pa. He later on attended the Martinsburg Summer School. He followed farming for many years. He is at present engaged in the general merchandising business, and also conducts a service station for the sale of gas oils, etc.; this business was established in 1926. At present he is Auditor of Hopewell Township. he belongs to the Reformed Church of Shy Beaver; he was formerly a deacon; wife also belongs to Reformed church. He is a member of the I.O.O.F., No. 594, of Saxton, Pa. A Republican. He has one brother, Theobald, married to Annie Moyer, Martinsburg, Blair Co., Pa. Two brothers deceased; one died in infancy, and Jacob, at the age of forty-two years. He has four sisters: Ruth, Akron, Ohio; Henrietta, Shy Beaver; Susan, Saxton, Pa.; Rachel, Hesston, Pa.; Elizabeth, married to G.D. Brumbaugh, Shy Beaver; one sister is deceased (Caroline). John B. Russell was married to Charlotte Dorman, a daughter of Henry and Margaret Dorman; both are deceased. Mr. and Mrs. Russell have one son, John H., six years of age. Carl D. is deceased, at the age of seventeen years-was killed by an automobile. Mary Margaret was married to C.W. Reed; Martha May was married to A.D. Treece; Ruth G., and Minnie L. at home. Mr. Russell takes an interest in community affairs; was Judge of Election of Hopewell Township.
