LESTER G. SACHS Petersburg, Pa. Principal of the Petersburg Vocational Schools: Petersburg's schools have of recent years forged to the front, whether it be by their methods or a competent staff of instructors, is to be ascertained. In all lines of vocational study and endeavor, their efforts have met with success, and one whose experience has been wide and varied is Prof. Lester G. Sachs. For ten years he has guided the destinies of the Petersburg Vocational Schools. He was born at Gettysburg, Pa., February 2, 1895, and in the rural schools of Mt. Joy Township he laid the foundation for an education that has stood him in good stead. His father is Emory E. Sachs, and his mother Ella A. Sachs, both of Gettysburg, Pa. His college career consists of institutions that specialize to he wants of those following teaching as a profession. From 1914 to 1918 he was enrolled at Shippensburg State Normal School; also at Gettysburg College and State College. He has taught schools in Adams County, for three years; Morrison's Cove Vocational School, one year, and has been Principal of the Petersburg Vocational Schools for ten years. From 1920 to 1922 he was associated with C.C. Johnson in business at Huntingdon, Pa. Auditor of Petersburg Borough, Secretary of Y.M.C.A., in Normal School, Assistant Superintendent Lutheran Sunday School, Petersburg. Belongs to the Lutheran Church, a teacher in the Sunday School for five years, an Odd Fellow, and at present a Noble Grand. Two sisters: Sara M. Reaver and Anna C. Sachs; one brother, Milton L. Sachs. Prof. Sachs was married to M. Ernestine Sharetts. Three children to bless this union: Mildred, aged eleven years; Phyllis, aged ten years, and Theron, aged eight years. Prof. Sachs is in the midst of an active and useful life.
