County Commissioner: A busy man is the subject of this sketch, Jesse Shetrom. In fact, he has always been industrious, striving to better his condition in life. He was born July 24, 1887, at Huntingdon, Pa. and at the Huntingdon public schools he began his early school training. His father was Christ Shetrom, married to Matilda Bowser; both American born. At an early age Jesse Shetrom learned the plumbing business, which also included heating. Through an earnest effort to please his patrons, and to do satisfactory work, his business increased. Later on he launched out into a larger field, including hardware and builders' supplies. He has used good judgment and has succeeded in building up a fast growing business. For ten years he has been on the election board of the Fourth Ward of Huntingdon, Pa. A member of the Brethren church, an Odd Fellow; P.O.S. of A.; the Jr. O.U.A.M. Past Counsellor. The following are his brothers: Charles A., Samuel and John L. Sisters are: Maggie, Lizzie, Annie, Alice and Nellie. Those deceased are Robert, William and Mary. Jesse Shetrom was married to Mable Miller. Children are Richard, Jesse E, Jr., Charles A., Minnie M. (who is a school teacher), Maggie, Madaline (married to Geary D. Bunn), and Dorothy M. Mr. Shetrom owns a farm in Walker township. Hunting and fishing are his sports.
