CECIL DAVID SHIRK Orbisonia, Pa. Instructor: Cecil David Shirk was born at Altoona, Pa., November 13, 1905. He began his schooling at Altoona, Pa. Continued on until graduation at Altoona High School. A son of Harry R. and Maude (Anderson) Shirk; they reside at 508 First Ave., Altoona, Pa.: Cecil Shirk attended West Chester Teachers College; also New York University during the summers of 1925-26 and 1927. He taught school at Altoona, Pa., for a period of three years and at the Orbisonia, Pa., schools in 1928; the governing body recalled him for 1929 and 1930. He is instructor of the Orbisonia High School band, which has twenty pieces; also the orchestra, which has fifteen pieces; is also instructor in vocal music. He taught instrumental music at he Altoona High School for three years. Is director of the Sunday School orchestra, Lutheran Church, of which he is a member. During the World War he was attending school. He votes the Republican ticket. Has four sisters (no brothers): Thelma, married to Harley McKenzie, Detroit, Mich.; Bernardine, Beatrice, and Marion, attending school. The professor is single, but Dan Cupid sometimes plays some peculiar pranks. He delights in a football game. The professor is a young man and talented, and Orbisonia is fortunate in having on its staff such a capable instructor. He has made a study of music, and is well qualified to impart his knowledge to those who are somewhat gifted along musical lines.
