ARTHUR WILLARD SHIVELY Alexandria, Pa. Instructor: Arthur Willard Shively was born at Grenada, Colorado. His early school training was obtained at he city schools of Denver, Colorado, and at La Verne, California. He is a son of Charles S. and Anna Shively. He has traveled extensively, and has laid the foundation for an educational career. He improved his time and intellect, and his chosen profession is that of an instructor, in which he has been successful. He was ambitious to get ahead, and realized his own limitations; he was conscious of the need of special training; he did not hesitate between decision and indecision, but he grasped the opportunity when it presented itself. His natural abilities required special training. He entered Juniata College, taking the Academy Course, and graduated in the class of 1924, and also in 1928 received his diploma from that college which has sent out into the world so many teachers that are prepared to impart unto others instruction, and that institution is Juniata College, Huntingdon, Pa. In 1926 and 1927 he taught in a one room school at McPherson, Kansas, and at present is an instructor at the Alexandria High School, where his work is being received with good results. He is a Sunday School teacher with a class of Junior boys. He is a member of the Church of the Brethren, Huntingdon, Pa., In politics a Democrat. He has one sister, Ethyl Mae Shively. He is single, but Dan Cupid shoots some wiry bolts. Prof. Shively has been trained with a serious regard for the work he has to do and much depends upon him. He is interested in his work. He is familiar with the needs of an education, and has the co-operation and confidence of his pupils, the teachers and the community where he resides.
