JNO. W. SKILLINGTON, A.B., A.M. Mount Union, Pa. Minister Methodist Church: The Reverend was born at Breezewood, Bedford County, March 23, 1880. A son of Robert M. Skillington, retired, and living at Everett, Pa., and of Elmira (McLaughlin) Skillington, who died in 1907, at the age of sixty years. Rev. Skillington began his educational career at the public schools of Rays Hill, Bedford County, Pa., and later on attended and graduated at Dickinson Seminary, receiving the degree of A.B., after which he graduated and received the degree of A.B. and A.M. at Dickinson College. His first ministerial charge was at Loyalsock, Lycoming County, 1904 and 1905, after which the following, in order: Neville, Cumberland County; New Benton, Dauphin County; Elimsport and Maple Hill, Lycoming County; Keating Summit, Austin, Pa.; Sinnemahoning and Driftwood, Cameron County; Morrisdale, Clearfield County, Pa.; Saxton, Bedford County; Osceola Mills; to Carlisle, and from Carlisle to his present charge at Mount Union, Pa. During the World War was four- minute man preaching the gospel of patriotism. Is a Mason, No. 515, Osceola Mills; also classed as a Republican. Has two brothers: Charles H., Edgewood, Pa.; James E., Altoona, Pa. Two sisters: Almira May, Bedford, Pa. , and Mary Mirtilla, Everett, Pa. Rev. Skillington was married to Lois Mickey, Cumberland, Md. They have one son, Robert Walter, at home, a senior in the Mount Union High School. Rev. Skillington is a pleasant conversationalist and well liked by his parishioners. Note: R. M.
