Sawyer: Lawrence Wade Snook might well be termed "a man of the forest," one who is conversant with all that has to do with woodcraft. Forty-two years has he spent in following this business. Lawrence Snook was born at Milroy, Mifflin County, Pa., April 20, 1872, in Armagh Township, where he acquired his first knowledge of an education. Lawrence David Snook was his father, and his mother before marriage was Amanda J. Goss, of Snyder County, of that industrious Pennsylvania Dutch which prevails in Snyder County. Both parents are deceased. Four years Lawrence Snook was in the employ of the Viscose Manufacturing Company, at Lewistown, Pa. For the past three years he has been the sawyer for McKelvey Bros. at Orbisonia, Pa., whose lumber interests are extensive. Mr. Snook has five brothers: John Wesley, married to Della Goss, of Lewistown, Pa.; Ross A., of Milroy, Pa.; Steve C., married to Ella Book, Lewistown, Pa.; Cyrus E., Strodes Mills, Pa. William H. and Elmer D. are deceased. Two sisters: Maria R. married to Harry Ruby, of Lewistown, Pa., ande Ada, married to James Knepp, Yeagertown, Pa. Lawrence Snook married Alice Calderwood, of Pennsylvania Furnace, Huntingdon County, Pa., and to this union was born Lawrence F., married to Laura Thomas, Lewistown, Pa. Andrew R., married to Katharine Curtin, Lewistown, Pa.; also five daughters: Amanda Jane, married to Lester Carson, Milroy; Pa.; Viola, married to Lloyd Goss, Milroy, Pa.; Naomi, a nurse, at home; Virginia, in training for nurse, at home; Marian, at home. Two children are deceased. Mr. Snook is a member of the United Brethren Church.
