Car Inspector: Born at McConnellstown, Pa., March 26, 1873. A son of Oliver P. States, a Civil War veteran, 22nd Penna. Vol.; was a good part of his life a blacksmith; died in 1914 at the age of sixty-three years. He was married to Abiah Hagey, who died in 1929, at the age of seventy-three years. Dorsey States attended the McConnellstown schools, after which he entered the employ of the H. & B.T.R.R. as a trackman; was later appointed a car inspector; has given the company a service of thirty-five years. He votes the Democratic ticket. He has three brothers: Archey, married to Essie Watkins; he is a car repairman, McConnellstown, Pa.; Harvey, married to Alice Robb; Carlton, at home. Two sisters are deceased, Bertha and Ethel. Dorsey States married Florence Peightal, of Grafton, Pa., a daughter of Henry F. and Sarah Peightal; both are deceased. They have one son, Paul; one son, Charles, died in infancy. Four daughters: Nellie, married to Robert Bollinger, McConnellstown, Pa.; Blanche, married to Floyd Green, McConnellstown, Pa., farmers; Marie and Madaline, at home; one daughter, Sarah, died in infancy. Mr. States has been a faithful and efficient employee; he has given the best part of his life to the company, and the company places confidence in him. Much depends upon his ability in looking after the care and upkeep of the company's rolling stock.
