Freight, Passenger and Baggage Agent; Born at Neelyton, Huntingdon County, Pa., June 21, 1878. A son of Dorris Stitt, a farmer practically all his life, who died aged sixty-eight years, and of Amanda (Wilson) Stitt, who died at the age of seventy-three years. They were of Scotch-Irish descent. William Dorris Stitt attended the Meadow Grove School, near Neelyton, Huntingdon County, Pa., and the Mifflintown Academy; also the Orbisonia Summer School, conducted by Wm. A. Parsons. he has been freight and passenger agent at Neelyton for ten years, and at Shade Gap for two years. He previously had been with Wiley and Peterson, at Neelyton, in a clerical capacity, for four years. He was assessor for Dublin township for two terms; is at present auditor for Dublin township. He belongs to he Presbyterian church; was a trustee for four years; his wife is also a member of the same church. During the World War he was agent with the East Broad Top R.R. He belongs to he Masonic Fraternity, Cromwell Lodge, No. 572, Orbisonia, Pa. A Republican in politics. He has two brothers: Grant, married to Ada Spotts, Altoona, Pa.; he is with the Penna R.R.; Riale, at home; one sister, Cora, at home. William Dorris Stitt was married to Elizabeth Robinson, a daughter of Robert and Sara Robinson, of Juniata County. They were married at Waterloo, Juniata County, by the Rev. Mr. Diemer.
