Merchant: A pastmaster in clerkship has been the lot of William Henry Stonebraker. For forty-nine years he has weighted, measured, and counted. From the time he finished his schooling until the present he has clerked, and has from 1900 been engaged in the general merchandise business. he was born in Mill Creek, March 31, 1865. His father was John M. Stonebraker, who came to Mill Creek before the Civil War; was Ticket and Freight Agent for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He died in 1891, at Altoona, Pa. Mrs. Sadie C. (Ginter) Stonebraker, his mother, died in 1869, at Mill Creek, Pa. Both American born. Mr. Stonebraker attends the Baptist Church, and for a number of years was Secretary of the Sunday School. Has been a Councilman since the borough was incorporated twenty-five years ago. During the World War was engaged in the general merchandise business. Belongs to Masonic Fraternity, Huntingdon, Pa., No. 300; Standing Stone Chapter, No. 201; Commandery, No. 65, and is a Past Eminent Commander. A Republican in politics. Director of the Grange Trust Co. One sister, Lenora, died February 27, 1929. Mr. Stonebraker married Charlotte Spiece, of Mill Creek. He is a very conservative man, a useful citizen, and ready at all times to further the interests of all that pertains to the welfare of his community. The Stonebrakers have long held a leading place in the county; their worth and usefulness are far-reaching; they are pioneers especially of this section of the county and have done much for Mill Creek since and before the incorporation of Mill Creek as a borough.
