WILLIAM BRUCE TOBIAS Three Springs, Pa. Minister, United Brethren: A minister of the gospel and one who spreads the doctrine of "Peace on earth, good will toward men," is that of Rev. William Bruce Tobias, of Three Springs. The Reverend was born at New Millport, Clearfield County, Pa., July 20, 1894. In the Oak Grove graded school he received his preliminary education. For fourteen years he was in the employ of coal companies, after which he went to the ministry. His father is Nathaniel Charles Tobias, Mackeyville, Clinton County, Pa.; his mother Catharine Lucinda (Shirk) Tobias. They resides at New Millport, Clearfield County, Pa.; are American born, and engaged in farming. Rev. Tobias served in the World War, in the Engineer Corps. from February 26, 1918, to July 12, 1919, with one year overseas' service. Discharged in New Jersey; belongs to the American Legion of Three Springs; is Chaplain. In politics a Republican. The following are his brothers and sisters: Jerome, deceased, November 11, 1918; Fay Swatsworth, New Millport; Anna Witherow, New Millport; Charles, Clearfield, Pa.; Elery, New Millport; Sudie Swatsworth, Curwensville, Pa.; James McCartney, Clearfield County, Pa.; Harry, New Millport; Harold and Cyrus, deceased. He was married to Omo Smeal; have five children: Lydia, eight years; Trudell, six years; Erma, four years; Vivian, two years, and William Bruce, Jr. He has eight charges: Three Springs, Sugar Grove, Latta Grove, Oak Grove, Fairview and Mount Carmel, of Huntingdon County, and Wells Valley of Fulton County, Pa. Rev. Tobias has been a United Brethren minister since October, 1922.
