ARTHUR C. VAN SUAN, A.B., M.A. Huntingdon, Pa. Minister, United Brethren Church: Born at Cincinnati, Ohio, July 12, 1893, and at Hopewell, Bradley County, Tennessee began the laying of an educational foundation. John Van Suan is his father and Rosa (Monjar) Van Suan his mother, both living. Of Holland-Dutch descent; engaged in fruit growing and truck raising; furnishing the wholesale markets. He was the first one to introduce motor trucks and tractors; contains nintey-six acres. Their home is at Cincinnati. The father of John Van Suan was the largest and leading commission merchant of fruits and vegetables, and one winter lost sixty car loads through cold and frosts. The Rev. Arthur C. Van Suan taught school for seven years. One year at Franklin township, Allegheny County, Pa.; Supervising Principal of Sewickley Heights, Allegheny, for two years; at East Freedom Junior High, Blair County, for one year, and Hollidaysburg, Blair County, for three years. He holds a State permanent certificate in State of Penna. Received the degree of A.B. from Otterbein College, and the M.A. degree from the University of Pittsburgh; studied abroad for one year, in England, Germany, Italy and France. He is a minister of the gospel of the United Brethren in Christ, Allegheny Conference; served on election board, at Monessen, Westmoreland County, Pa. During the World War was a student in college, and ministry; received a commission in 1922 as chaplain, 396 Inf., 99th Division; was promoted to captaincy in 1929. Has two brothers, Garrett, manager of his father's estate, a World War veteran, permanently injured,; Walter A. P.H.D., Instructor of Philosophy, University of Cincinnati, Ohio. Rev. Van Suan is a Mason, Altoona, No. 281, Chapter 189, Commandery No. 10; Valley of Harrisburg Consistory; Shriner, Jaffa Temple, Altoona, Pa. Married Millie Glass, of Altoona, Pa. One son, Arthur, twelve; Ruth ten; Naomi, eight, and Elizabeth, five years.
