L. WAGNER Shirleysburg, Pa. Sunny Side Gardens and Taxidermist: Was born at Belleville, Mifflin Co., Pa., February 22, 1881. A son of William J. Wagner and Sarah Peters, formerly of Reedsville, Pa. Died Jan. 16th 1929. L. L. Wagner received his education at Rockville, Mifflin Co., Pa. Was employed at Altoona, Pa., for the Penna R.R., as foreman of car repairmen, for three years, and for five years in the tank shop for the same company. At present he conducts the Sunny Side Gardens, raising and marketing truck and vegetables of all kinds. For two years at Mapleton he conducted this same line of business. Besides gardening he is an expert taxidermist, having a diploma from the leading and foremost school in existence. At this time he has about twenty-five deer heads mounted, besides squirrels, owls, snakes, fawns, etc., and a beautiful selection of butterflies. The collection represents these exhibits in their natural pose, and appearance. Mr. and Mrs. Wagner and their son are members of the Methodist Church. Mr. Wagner joined the church at the age of fourteen years; is a trustee; has been Superintendent of the Sunday School, Treasurer of the World's Service Mission Fund, and also a local minister. He is a member of the Knights of Malta, Altoona, Pa., and was formerly a drummer in Morrison's Drum Corps of Newton Hamilton, Pa. He has one brother, Harry I., of Altoona, Pa., and Clinton O., deceased; one sister, Ida F. married to Ira Patterson, Wilkinsburg, Pa. L. L. Wagner was married to Sarah E. Steward, daughter of Isaac and Lillie Steward, of East Shirleysburg, Pa.; she is ninety-three years of age. The Wagners have one daughter, Lillie, married to Wm. Bennett, New York City, and Albert, at home. Mr. Wagner naturally enjoys hunting. Note: Lawrence L. Wagner, 38, Ellen L. Wagner, 32, Lillie G. Wagner, 14, and Albert W. Wagner, 13, are listed in the 1920 Union Township, Huntingdon County census.
