CALVIN TARRING WALKER
Hesston, Huntingdon Co., Pa.

Retired:  Calvin Tarring Walker was born at Cornpropsts Mills, formerly 
Couch's Mills, a son of David Walker, a farmer and carpenter, who died 
in 1905, aged eighty-six years, and of Catherine Peightal, who died in 
1876, aged sixty-five years.  Calvin Walker has lived at Hesston, Pa., 
for nineteen years; had lived at Huntingdon, Pa.; with Penna. R.R. for 
nineteen years; now retired; a member of the Reformed Church at 
Hesston, Pa.; a Civil War veteran, Co. C, 49th Penna. Vol. Inf. 
Enlisted at Mount Union, Pa.; sent to Carlisle Barracks; from there 
joined the regiment to Brandy Station; was throughout the campaign for 
a period of twenty-eight months; served two enlistments under Capt. 
Smith and Commander Steward.  He was born July 4, 1848; belongs to Geo. 
Simpson Post, No. 44, G.A.R.  A Republican in politics; has served on 
election board.  He had one brother, Daniel, who died at the age of two 
years.  One sister, Priscilla, married to Harry Fulton; he is dead; his 
wife lives at Allegheny, Pa.; two sisters are deceased,  Mary and 
Margaret.  Calvin Tarring Walker was married to Hanna M. McCartney; 
they had six sons:  John S., Altoona, Pa.; Edward G., Altoona, Pa.; 
William T., Huntingdon, Pa.; James B., Mount Union, Pa. ; Warren C. and 
Walter C., are deceased.  Mr. Walker remarried to Rebecca J. Stover, of 
Hesston, Huntingdon Co., Pa.  Mr. Walker is living a quiet life amidst 
the memories of days long past and a part he played well in that famous 
drama of which he was one of the actors.
