Merchant: Frank Wallett is one of Mapleton's most foremost and enterprising merchants, with a career of twenty-eight years engaged in the mercantile business, which means success, and catering to the public's wants. He carries a general line of merchandise, dry goods, groceries, etc. He was born at Ickesburg, Perry Co., in April, 1865. a son of George W. and Magdaline (Reisinger) Wallett. The mother died in 1896. For a period of one year he farmed, and during the World War was engaged in the mercantile business; previously was employed with the Speer Sand Works at Mapleton, Pa. Has served on Borough Council for four years and one the election board. A member of the M.E. church, a Sunday school teacher and Superintendent of Sunday school for fifteen years. A Republican in politics. Has three brothers: Samuel, a widower, of Ickesburg, Perry Co., Pa.; Cambridge, of Des Moines, Iowa; David, of Mapleton, Pa.; John and William were twins. Both Civil War veterans, and both deceased. One sister, Maria Harlacher, Lewistown, Pa., a widow. Frank Wallett was married to Belle Baker, of Mapleton, Pa.; she died Aug. 21, 1927, in the Roaring Springs Hospital. He possesses a splendid trade, which gradually expands as time goes on.
