Ex-Sheriff of Huntingdon County, Pa.: The ancestry of Harvey Elmer Wilson dates back many years. His great-grandfather was the first to manufacture pig metal in this country, in Centre County, Pa.; this is quite a distinction. Harvey Wilson was born in Cromwell township, October 1, 1867, and in Cromwell township he received an education which in those days was varied and strict. His mother's name was Ruth Benner, born in Scotland; the father was Hugh Wilson, of Scotch-Irish parentage. In 1904 he conducted a general business at Three Springs, and in 1910 was in the hotel and livery business; was with United States Refractory Company; at Three Springs when he was elected Sheriff of Huntingdon county during the stirring World War times. He has been a constable since 1921. Belongs to the Methodist church; served 18 years on school board, and many years on election board. Belongs to I.O.O.F., No. 790, Three Springs. A Republican. Three brothers living: William, at Orbisonia; John, at Olean, New York, and Albert, at Pitcairn, Pa. Three brothers deceased. Mr. Wilson was married to Jennie Hockenberry. Children are: Susie, Agatha, Nora, Helen, Charlotte, Margery, Genevieve, and Elmer, with C.H. Miller Hardware Company, Huntingdon, Pa.; Walter and Glenn. Has twenty-seven grandchildren. At present has a service station near Poplar and Jefferson streets, specializing in accessories. The Sheriff, as he is more familiarly known, is an active man and has built up a large business.
