E. WILSON Mount Union, Pa. One can go back into the dim past and still find the Wilson clan, which is proverbial; its name has graced the Presidency of the United States, and many of its forebears have occupied positions of prominence. But this sketch has to do with one of Mount Union's representative citizens. W. E. Wilson was born, reared and raised at Cassville, Huntingdon County, February 24, 1858. Elias B. Wilson was his father. He was a coachmaker, and followed this business practically all his life. He had a farm one and a half miles from Cassville; built a home thereon; he was a Civil War veteran in the Infantry branch of the service; he was born at Hagerstown, Md., in 1820; he died in 1898, eighty-two years of age at death. His father was Joseph Wilson, who also was a coachmaker; died at the age of ninety-three years. Elias B. Wilson married Sarah Wolfkill; she is deceased; died in 1906, at the age of eighty-two years. W. E. Wilson obtained his schooling at the Cassville borough schools; he also, like his forefathers, was a coachmaker. In the fall of 1892 he left Cassville; went to West Virginia; remained there for twenty-three years; he was engaged in carpentering. He taught bands and was instructor at Davis, West Virginia, and also at Dobbin, West Virginia. In 1915 he returned to Mount Union, Pa.; he has taught eighteen bands in Huntingdon county and elsewhere, including Coalmont, Broad Top City, Orbisonia, Mount Union, Mill Creek, Petersburg, Spruce Creek, Neff's Mills, and in Westmoreland, Juniata and Mifflin Counties, Pa. He specialized on the cornet. He is engaged at general saw repairs (circular), hammering, brazing on backs, filing, and truing of saws. He receives work from all over seven or eight counties; he is an expert in this line. Her served on election board at Dobbin, W. Va. A Republican in politics. A member of the Presbyterian church; his wife also. His fraternity consists in membership of the I.O.O.F., Cassville, No. 736. He has two brothers living: J. F. owns a farm at Cassville; he formerly was a railroad contractor in Mexico; S. G., of Huntingdon, Pa.; he first introduced the Buick automobile in Huntingdon county; he is now retired. The following are deceased: J. M. at the age of sixty-six years; D. C. died at the age of eighty-one years; H. B. died at the age of fifty-two years. His sisters are: Alice, married to M. L. Stever, Cassville; he is deceased; Laura Jane died in 1929; she was married to A. L. Smucker, of Huntingdon, Pa.; Mary L. resides with her sister Alice at Cassville, Pa. W. E. Wilson was married to Fannie May Garver, daughter of John E. Garver; he was a minister and farmer; he resided at Orbisonia, Pa. at death. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson have two sons: W. L., at Huntingdon, Pa., sells radios and supplies, makes repairs, etc.; F. G. is a graduate of Mount Union High School and a member of the Mount Union High School Band. At present is a senior at Penna. State College (mechanical engineering); graduated in class of 1930. One son, Jules Denton, died in infancy. The Wilsons reside at No. 26 Pennsylvania Ave., Mount Union, Pa. Note: William E. Wilson, 72, Fannie M. Wilson, 62, and Garner F.
