Office Clerk, Rockhill Coal and Iron Company: Born at Hustontown, Fulton County, Pa.; early schooling at Hustontown, Pa. A son of W. G. Wink, of Hustontown, Fulton County, Pa. A school teacher for forty- three consecutive years, practically his life work, now living at Hustontown, Pa. His father was a Civil War veteran. His wife before marriage was Harriet M. Sharp; she died in 1925, aged sixty-four years. Her father also was a Civil War veteran. Orville Vernon Wink is a graduate of the Shippensburg State Normal School, class of 1917. Taught school for five years in Fulton County, Pa., and three years at Robertsdale, Pa. (Elementary). At present is associated with the Rockhill Coal and Iron Company; has been for a period of five years, in a clerical capacity. Belongs to the Masonic Fraternity, No. 572, Cromwell Lodge, Orbisonia, Pa. A Republican in politics. A World War veteran, 305th Engineers, 80th Division. Enlisted at McConnellsburg, Fulton County, Pa.; sent to Camp Lee, September 20, 1917; from there to France on transport (Huron); landed at Brest, France; thence to Calais; to Somme River, Artois sector; went into action; attached to British Army; again in action; then to American Army at St. Mihiel; to Meuse, Argonne, in action. At this point the armistice was signed, November 11, 1918. Spent winter in France, Ancy-le-Franc; then to Brest; sailed for U.S. on transport (Troy); discharged June 11, 1919; wounded by high explosive shell; enlisted as private; promoted to Sergeant. A remarkable record. Mr. Wink has two sisters: Mayme, married to Guy Benson, proprietor Maple Grove Planing Mill; Ethel, at home, a school teacher, graduate of Shippensburg State Teachers College. Mr. Wink's home is a Hustontown, Pa.
