WOODS Porter Township, Huntingdon Co., Pa. Orchard Hill Service Station: He was born in Henderson township, Huntingdon Co., Pa., March 16, 1892. A son of Thomas E. Woods, who died in 1923, aged sixty-nine years, a foreman of the P.R.R. and of Clara (Rupert) Woods, now living at Ardenheim, Huntingdon Co., Pa. Donald A. Woods received his education at the Ardenheim school after which he was employed by the Penna. R.R. as water boy for three summers, and for fourteen years was a machinist at the J. C. Blair Stationery Manufacturing Co., Huntingdon, Pa. In 1924 he established the Orchard Hill Service Station in Porter township, a beautiful and healthful location. Serves lunches, confectionery, etc.; manufactures his own ice cream; operates gas station; raises fruits and vegetables; conducts an apiary and sells honey, etc. He and his wife are member of the Church of the Brethren at Ardenheim. He is a Republican in politics. Has two brothers: Oscar E., at home; Fred C., passenger brakeman, P.R.R., at home. Sisters are: Bessie married to Elliott Johnson, J. C. Blair Co., Huntingdon, Pa.; Jeanette, married to Albert Robinson, ticket agent P.R.R.; Mary, married to Prof. Harvey, Shippensburg State Normal School; Doris, Harrisburg, Pa., Pauline, married to Dr. Montgomery, Philadelphia, Pa.; Hazel, Harrisburg, Pa. Donald A. Woods was married to Mildred Knepp, Huntingdon, Pa., a daughter of William A. and Emma Knepp; he was a railroad carpenter. One son, Tom, ten years. Three daughters: Arlene, twelve years Ruth, seven years, at school, and Janet, three years. Mr. and Mrs. Woods have succeeding in making this section a beauty spot.
