Merchant: Born at Dudley, Huntingdon County Pa., September 15, 1884. He comes from an ancestry that dates back many years. Jordan Wright was the grandfather of the subject of this sketch, and Wesley Wright, Ex-Associate Judge of Huntingdon County, was his uncle; they are of English descent. Amon J. Wright, the father of George Glenn Wright, was a blacksmith all his life. He died October 18, 1922, at the age of seventy-one years. He was married to Rachel (Reed) Wright; she now resides at Dudley, Pa. George Glenn Wright began his school career at Dudley, Huntingdon County, Pa. He graduated at Juniata College, Business Course, in the class of 1906. He was a bookkeeper for the Penna R.R., at Union Station, Pittsburgh, Pa., for six years. In 1909 he established himself in the mercantile business in Huntingdon, Pa.; carrying a line of furnishings, groceries, etc. Belongs to the Methodist Church; his wife also. He is a trustee and Sunday School attendant. Belongs to the Masonic Fraternity, No. 616, Altoona; Chapter, Huntingdon. A Rotarian, Chairman Shade Tree Commission. He has three brothers: Charles D., a mortician, married to Blanche Heath, Dudley, Pa.; Jesse H., married to Cecelia White, Hollidaysburg, Pa.; they operate and own a laundry; Howard O., a bookkeeper for the H. & B.T. Coal Company, Dudley, Pa. One sister, Cora D., married to O. C. Hess, Dudley, Pa. George Glenn Wright was married to Nancy J. Winnaugle, of Altoona, Pa., a daughter of William F. and Nannie Winnaugle; the father is deceased; mother living. Mr. and Mrs. Wright have one son, Boyd Glenn, eight years. Two daughters, Eleanor, fourteen years, a freshman, Huntingdon High School; Miriam, eleven years. Mr. Wright is a public-spirited business man, and is interested in all that pertains to the upbuilding of Huntingdon's welfare.
