YOUNG Mount Union, Pa. Relief Druggist: He was born in Exeter Township, Bucks County, Pa., on January 24, 1855, on a farm, and assisted his father with farm work. His early education was obtained in the township of his birth. His grandparents were John Young, who married Hannah (Heckler) Young. They were early settlers, having taken up six hundred acres for cultivation; also fought in the Revolutionary War. The father of Calvin K. Young was Nathan H. Young, who married Margaret Knabb, of German descent. Commencing for a practical education, Calvin K. Young entered Kallenean Academy for three terms, expiring in 1867, and for two terms we find him at a scientific academy, after which he began his teaching career. Taught school at Brecknoch Township, Bucks County, 1871 to 1872; in Exeter Township for two terms; taught three sessions and at the same time began the study of medicine with Dr. J. S. Ammon, store and private practice, until 1885. They devoted time to the drug business. One year was spent in Wiconisco, Dauphin County, Pa., and the following year he went to Lykens, and opened a new store; was there for fourteen years; sold it and went to Tamaqua, Pa.; operated two stores there for ten years, up to 1899; commenced relief work among drug stores in 1909, and has since been engaged in this practice; located at Mount Union, Pa., for nine years. On April 25, 1929, he entered the employ of the J. C. Kline Pharmacy, at Ashley, Pa.; at present will represent the Crezoin Company; he has been associated with his son in connection with business. Formerly belonged to the Reformed Church; later became interested with the International Bible Student Association, as represented by Judge Rutherford. Independent in politics. Has three half-sisters: Deborah, married to Milton Snyder, Reading, Pa.; Elizabeth Sheeler, Reading, Pa., and Sally Lewis, Reading, Pa. One full brother, Irvin K., at Reading, Pa. Two full sisters: Cordelia, married to Daniel Rothermel, Exeter Township, Bucks County, Pa.; Kate Levan, a widow, resides at Shillington, Pa. Calvin K. Young was married to Sally E. Loose, of Reading, Pa. Children are: Florence May, married to J. L. Scheid, Mt., Carmel, Pa.; Norma L., married to Thomas Walker, Tamaqua, Pa.; Verna Ruth, married to I. C. Correll, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Elsie N., married to John Morgan, Reading, Pa. Sons are: Stanley L, married to Sarah Wray, McClure, Pa.; Byron L., married to Myrtle Elteringham, Newark, New Jersey, and C. Rodger, at home. Outdoor exercise has made the Doctor a vigorous and healthy man.
