Tax Collector, Borough of Mount Union: Chalmers Blair Zeigler was born at Shade Gap, Huntingdon County, Pa., on June 6, 1874, of German descent. He was a son of Henry C. Zeigler, who was born Dec. 29, 1847, in Dublin Township, Huntingdon Co., a son of Isaac Zeigler and Harriet (Hooper) Zeigler. The paternal grandparents of Mr. Zeigler are both buried near Fort Littleton, Fulton County, Pa. Isaac Zeigler was born in Fulton County in 1797; he died at Dry Run in 1859. Henry C. Zeigler was in Company H, 21st Penna. Cavalry; was mustered in at Harrisburg, Pa., in 1863. In his sixteenth year he ran away from home and enlisted. His mother followed him as far as Mount Union, but could not overtake him. He was a school teacher, councilman, chief burgess, justice of the peace and postmaster. He was married in Shade Gap, in 1873 to Amanda, daughter of Brice Blair. Chalmers Blair Zeigler received his education at Shade Gap, Huntingdon County, Pa. A native of this county all his life. He was formerly employed in the Pennsylvania Railroad Freight Office at Mount Union, Pa., from 1900 to 1906; also with the East Broad Top R.R. freight office from 1906 to 1915. He is a member of the Presbyterian Church; belongs to the Maccabees, Tent No. 90. A Republican in politics. He has one brother, Frank Zeigler, of Munhall, Pa., and one sister, Blanche Roe, of Pitcairn, Pa. He is now Tax Collector. He represents the C. E. Stuart Nursery Company, Newark, New Jersey. He was married to Nora E. James, of Nossville, Huntingdon County, Pa., on August 28, 1899. The following are the children of this union: Roy, manager of Weis Store, of Huntingdon, Pa.; Ruth Grissinger, McKeesport, Pa.; Edmund and Ethel, at home. Fishing and hunting are his favorite sports.
