I requested information on the post office at Latta Grove, PA since I have some LATTA relatives from Huntingdon County in the late 1700's. The application was made March 30, 1882 for a post office at Latta Grove, PA, situated in Cass Township, east side of the County of Huntingdon, State of Pennsylvania. "It will be on or near Route No. 8647, being the route from Mapleton Depot to Hares Valley, on which th email is now carried two times per week. The contractor's name is A. B. Smith, C. W. T____, O. E. Jones of 1st part, Jas. Park, carrier. Where will the mail leave the present route to supply the proposed office? - Ans. at Latta Grove schoolhouse. The name of the nearest office to the proposed one, on the same route is: Haresvalley P.O. Also, the population to be supplied by proposed office - Ans. 106 from 6 yrs. up.
